How much cargo can a PSV tour bus carry before it is a HGV?
Every now and then I see a coach that has been converted to a tour bus. I assume these are PSV vehicles.
However, does the adding of space for living accomdation, and the use of luggage space and trailers for band equipment present a risk that the PSV status is not valid?
Taking it to extemes, would something like this (see link, on right) be classed as a PSV on UK roads?:

There aren't PSVs anymore, the current legal acronym is PCV, (passenger carrying vehicle). As for the Volvo B10M in the link, if it carries nine or more passengers and complied with the rest of the rules yes, then it could be licenced as a PSV here. In New Zealand such combinations were once not that uncommon, there they were known as brucks.
Any of the coaches used by people such as Berryhurst or Starliner or any other of the specialist firms who move touring artistes registers their vehicle as a PCV, because it would be illegal to operate it foir hire or reward otherwise, the poster who supposes that tour buses are run under private
car rules is way off beam.
Even the few buses run as campers or showmans living vehicles are subject to much greater legal scrutiny than a private car.
Also PCVs do have a plated gvw as well as a maximum passenger capacity; sometimes there is more luggage space than the law will allow you to fill.
