Taylormade burner vs. Taylormade tour burner?
I am almost 15 years old and can drive a golf ball nearly 300 yards. However my handicap is in the 18's on a difficult course. What is the difference between these clubs and which one would be more beneficial to me. I get more distance off the tour burner but it's much more expensive. Overall whats different between these clubs and which one would you recommend for me?
From what I can tell, the Burner has a slightly bigger head, for clubhead stability, and comes with the RE*AX SF60 Taylormade stock shaft. More than likely, it's draw-biased, as well. It's selling for $249.88 at TGW.com
The Tour Burner has a slightly smaller head shape, for working the ball. It comes with either a Mitsubishi Rayon Whiteboard 65, Matrix X-Con5 or Fujikura Rombax 75 shaft. The shafts are top of the line, thus making it $349.88 at TGW.com.
The shafts are the real difference here. The Tour Burner has "premium" shafts, so naturally they're gonna bump those up quite a bit.
Go with the driver that feels right to you. But if you're driving it 300 yards and your handicap is 18, you might need to look at a different aspect of your game. Could your irons and/or wedges be improperly fit to you? Is your putter too long, thus making you take too many putts? Or could it be you drive it 300 yards into the next zip code?
You might be able to save yourself some green by giving yourself an honest evaluation, or getting a lesson. If it is the driver, go with the one that feels good in your hands. If it's the Tour Burner and it costs more than you want to pay- look at other brands for an alternative. If it's something else, say, your short game- maybe you just need your wedges bent to the right lie angle, or something like that. The lesson with a pro will help you tremendously.
