How do I set up my 37LG30 TV as a Monitor for my laptop?

I want to view my files on my tv. I am hoping someone can tell me how to do this simply. I have used the manual and surfed the web for an answer. All I want to do is use it as a secondary clone monitor. How do I do this???!!! I have re-set the settings various times which led to a system restore. So I hope there is an easy answer. Oh yea, and I am hooked up through an S-Cord.

Don't use S-Video. That is the WORST possible way to do it.

Your laptop most likely has a VGA port. The 37LG30 for sure has a VGA port. Use a VGA cable! Signal is MUCH better than S-Video.

And even better, your 37LG30 has HDMI ports. If your laptop has a DVI or HDMI port, use either a DVI-to-HDMI or HDMI cable. That is a high-bandwidth digital connection and gives THE best video quality.

Once you have it hooked up with either VGA or DVI/HDMI, you should be able to set up the TV as a second display, and you can configure it as an extended desktop or clone the laptop display through Display Properties in Windows.
