GOLF-YARDAGE FOR SHORT GAME SHOTS?
Refering to lower trajectory,bump and run,knockdown...
Any average yardage table out there online for this? It would save me an afternoon measuring yardage.
Low shot-
ex-my 8 iron goes about 130,my 5iron goes 165- A smooth swing with proper alignment should result in a fairly consistent shot. Does a low shot that rolls more go same distance?

With a 9 iron the last couple rounds,hit a few of these right at hole,but the success was from feel,not from knowing how far it would carry/roll.
For example if 10-15 yds off uphill slope green,how do you choose 7,8,or 9 iron?
Knowing for sure the distance of these shots would make it easier when 10-60 yds out.
No way to do it without trial and error, there are just too many variables (lie, grass, slope, green speed and firmness, moisture etc). That said, for chip and pitch shots 1/3 is the general rule of thumb the pros use. Fly the ball on the green, 1/3rd of the way to hole and let it roll the rest of the way. The distance needed dictates the proper trajectory, which dictates the proper club. Stay away from shots the fly right to the edge of the green, the edge of the collar can make the ball squirt very unpredictably.
Full shots should go about the same distance as normal but lower trajectory. These shots are to be used into the wind or to release the ball more to a back hole location. Hit these shots by choking down slightly to shorten the arc and finish with your hands in front of you instead of up on your shoulder
