what is a good hybrid/ utility club that is under $100.00
why it is good and where can you by it
There are a lot of good used hybrid clubs under $100. Go to your local golf discount store (like Golf Galaxy, Golf Smith...etc) and take a look. If you are looking for a new club, Taylor-made makes a Rescue Mid (in 3,4 or 5) that you can probably find brand new for $79.00 at almost any discount shops or on the internet.
Hybrids are more forgiving and easier to hit than the counterpart iron. (4H vs 4 iron...etc). Especially on a mis-hit, the hybrid will still launch the ball forward more often then the iron. For novice or casual golfers that have a hard time with the long irons and therefore can't hit the long shots, the hybrid will definitely solve that problem (not all the time, but more often).
