What to say about golf to my dad?
My dad has always been a big golf fan (playing the sport more than watching the competition, I mean), so he got me involved into the sport at around eleven/twelve. I'm fourteen now, and I am going to go into high school this year. The thing is, I never liked golf that much; I played for junior high because I knew it made him happy. The sport I truly love is swimming. The thing is, I hate disappointing him, but I would rather swim than golf any day. Personally, I don't think I'm very good at golf (and not enjoying playing it isn't helping either), and my dad is trying to train me for the golf tryouts. I'm not sure what to do! I feel bad because he's done so much to help me with golf, and I feel like I've been using him if I quit now. What should I do or say?
NOTE: I wouldn't mind playing leisurely (without the pressure), I just don't want to play competitively.
tell your dad your thoughts about golf. every parent has dreams for their kid but they don't realize that sometimes the child may not like it. tell your dad. he'll understand that you like swimming for golf. calmly tell him that you would like to stop playing golf and start swimming. it's your dreams that are important not his!
