Golf Swing Errors Help?

I have gone through many different swing errors, but my most recent ones with my driver have been: high slice, low straight shot, and the most upsetting is a hook that goes 10 feet into the fescue with a divot 5 inches left of the tee. With my irons, I don't hit any fat shots, but hit the ball thin, or low straight shot. I am usually 2 clubs down from what my teammates use, due to unsolid iron contact. With my wedges, I find myself sculling the ball, or coming up short. Help in any three of these subjects would be greatly appreciated.

What you described is the definition of an inconsistent, flawed swing.

Your shot patterns can each be caused by about 5-6 different things each, or two or three overlapping, or about 50 different combinations of things. Any help you find online is going to be a guess and be incomplete.

I highly recommend getting lessons from your local PGA teaching professional. They really know what they are doing and can help get your swing on the right track rather quickly. If you don't know where to find one use this search tool on their website: http://www.pga.com/profinder/

If for some reason lessons aren't feasible I would recommend two other alternatives.

The first would be to find a very experienced player to look at your swing and help you out (preferably someone with a scratch handicap or better).

The second would be to get a decent video camera with a good slow motion feature and record yourself. Then find a touring professional who has a build similar to yours. Find videos of their swing on youtube and compare your swing to theirs. This is still a very haphazard way to correct swing flaws, and very ineffective when compared to professional lessons... but its better than online advice.
