Chunking Hard Right!?

So for about the past week I have been chunking my irons hard right. All of them go out about 75 yards and go hard right. I usually hit my 8 iron consistently with a very slight fade, but I recently had a lesson and now all of a sudden I chunk my irons hard right. Chipping, woods, and driver have not changed at all. I have got it down to a few POSSIBLE things that may be wrong. I am leaning too far back as I trying to keep the weight on the inside of my feet and back, or I am trying to force the ball into the air topping it. Maybe I need to focus on the down swing and driving the right knee down. I hit my driver and woods some what consistently straight. Right handed golfer, and my golf pro says that my grip is great.

That day that he had changed my swing I was striking the ball very well.

I believe Gorilla is spot on with his advice about continuing to work with your pro. Getting a good ,solid, repeatable golf swing is NOT a single lesson achievement. However, your willingness to practice what you learned, and desire to become your own "teacher," is outstanding and you already possess the two most important qualities to become a good golfer. There is no one, short of your instructor or a great golf instructor, who could possibly make a good diagnosis without a video of your swing.

I can take an educated guess of what your problem is, but the last thing you need is five people offering five different suggestions. You will merely get confused, lose whatever progress you made, and get nowhere.

Let me instead offer an alternative for how to make lessons more productive, and make it easier for you work with your swing. First, get a good camcorder, and have your lessons videoed. If you pro does not offer this service, bring a tripod or a friend and video it yourself, both from behind the ball and face on. This will give you a frame of reference for how a good swing looks and you can use readily available software (I use V1), to compare what you are doing on the practice range to how you looked at your lesson. In addition, once you begin to take a few lessons with the same guy, most of them will provide you with follow-up help for little or no cost. Even if the pro does not have V1 software or an equivalent, you can always post your videos on YouTube (preferably in slow-motion), for him to look at and critique.
