Momentus Swing Trainer Iron

Momentus Swing Trainer Iron

$79.96

The MOMENTUS is a revolutionary swing trainer that incorporates a patented technology, whereby the clubshaft embodies most of the weight which is evenly distributed throughout the length of the shaft. The reason this is so beneficial in a practice club is because as a golfer swings the MOMENTUS, the evenly weighted shaft generates momentum. The momentum causes the club to swing along a balanced and proper swing plane. Through repetitions with the MOMENTUS, a golfer ingrains the feel for swinging the club on-plane. This leads to a drastic improvement in consistency and clubhead speed. The momentum of the shaft swings the club, so a golfer's muscles are stretched by swinging the trainer. Additional flexibility and strength are benefits also gained from swinging the MOMENTUS. It is an excellent club to use for warming up prior to playing a round of golf.

Golf Swing Basics | 3 Simple ways to improve your score

How many times have you finished a round of golf and everyone in the group was happy with their score?  Does anyone say "that was easy out there today".  The reality is that all golfers feel that they can improve on their game, but very few have the time to spend practising their golf swing basics.  That is why it's crucial for golfers to get the most out of their practise time and focus on the right areas of their golf game.

Very few golfers are scratch players and most are happy to be in the 80's, 90s or even shoot a 100.  And no matter what your personal goal is, it's always a great feeling when you play a solid round of golf and realize a new personal best.  However, if you're like most golfers there are times when you feel that you've played a great game, but your golf score doesn't reflect that.  There are certain areas of the golf game that all golfers should focus on when practising that will help them realize an improvement in their golf game.  Here are three areas to practice to improve your golf score.

1)      Chipping

Your first thought is probably, boring!  However let's look at some math.  If you are like most high handicappers (18+) without the proper golf swing basics you will typically hit about 3 greens in regulation.  This results in 15 holes where you are required to chip onto the green.  If you were a professional golfer (which we established we aren't) you'd get up and down from off the green about 85% of the time, whereas the regular Joe is closer to the 20% range.  Now, we can't expect that you'll become the next Tiger or Phil, but if practise your chipping and can increase from 20% to 50% you'll share about 5 strokes off your golf score.  And that doesn't account for the bad holes where you have to chip twice, or that you are so far from the hole that you might 3 putt.   Chipping is predominantly about feel – which means you need to practice.

2)      Putting

From the Sunday afternoon golfer to the tour pro, this is the most important part of the game.  The putter is used far more than any other club in the bag – for the average Joe that's about 36 times (not including the gimmies).  Putting can also a buzz kill.  Have you ever had two perfect golf swings to get you within 12 feet for birdie only to 3 putt and walk away dejected with a bogey on the golf score card? Putting differs from the challenges of trying to practise your golf swing in your living room – you can actually practice the fundamentals of putting at home.  Your floor is flat (or it should be) which allows you to practise the basic swing movements and fine tune your swing.  However there is nothing like practising on a real green and its worth spending an extra time on the golf green

3)      Driving the Ball

Making a great golf swing and having solid contact with the ball can set the tone for the hole.  Most of the weekend golf courses don't have the typical US Open rough and generally have wide landing areas; but hitting it down the middle is still important.  They always say, Drive for Show and Putt for Dough.  I'd definitely agree that nothing feels better than hitting a perfect drive and standing in the middle of the fairway while your playing partners search in the woods, but golf is a mental game and anything you can do to set up your golf hole will make you a better player.   Also keep in mind that a "drive" doesn't always require a driver – there are many times where a solid 3 wood or 3 iron is the smart play, especially on the Sunday afternoon golf course.

Although I wouldn't consider this something to work on, but always keep in mind that beer hinders the score.  I'm all for a cold beer from the beer cart girl on a sunny day, but it will do nothing for you score.

Golf is a difficult sport in which even the pros spend hours trying to master their golf swing basics.  The reality is that most high handicapper golfers don't have the time to go to the range every day to improve their golf swing.  The best advice is to understand which areas of your golf game you need to focus on that can yield you the greatest improvement for the least amount of work.  Mastering the golf swing basics is challenging, but that doesn't mean that you can't improve your score.
