When you look through the view finder of a Digital Canon Rebel. . .?
do you see another screen or do you see what you are actually taking a picture of?
This may seem like a stupid question, but I have a Canon Powershot S3 IS and when I look into the viewfinder, I just see another screen. It is really annoying. I am trying to decide whether I should buy a Canon DSLR or a Pentax and this might be the deciding factor.

I just got into digital cameras last year, so I still don't know much about them.
Digital Rebel is an SLR - which means that the viewfinder is a TTL (through the lens) viewfinder. In plain English, you'll see what the lens see - you'll see a similar result when you took the picture, and it's not a screen. It is what it is.
The S3 IS is not a SLR, and it doesn't have a TTL viewfinder.
Canon and Pentax DSLR, or any other DSLR have TTL viewfinder.
Be advised though that even though it's a TTL viewfinder, only professional class DSLR that can cover 100% area of the sensor when you're looking at the viewfinder (most DSLR have 95% coverage). It's not really a problem because it only affect a small area, but thought you'd like to know that.
